From a tiny office in a 200-square-foot basement to the largest China-only adoption
agency, Children Adoption International (CCAI) has come a long way. As of
2007, CCAI has placed more than 7,500 abandoned Chinese children with loving families.
CCAI’s unprecedented success is possible because of our unwavering belief in and
relentless pursuit of our organizational vision – the well-being of abandoned and
adopted Chinese children is our ultimate concern.
Here at CCAI, we strongly believe that the completion of an adoption is just the
beginning of our co-responsibility with adoptive parents in helping our adopted
children to grow in love, knowledge, confidence, self-respect, and support. The
Joyous Chinese Cultural Center (the first Chinese cultural education endeavor initiated
by an adoption agency), the Red Thread Counseling Center (specializing in supporting
children adopted from China), and ChinaRoots (serving adopted children as they search
for their birth culture), are part of CCAI’s overall efforts to materialize our
responsibilities.
Xpress Yourself! is yet another creative and meaningful program launched by CCAI.
This program will offer a much-need space for teenage adopted children to freely
open up, share their inner feelings, encourage and comfort each other, and feel
“no longer alone” in their search and struggle with issues like adoption and identity.
Nothing is more rewarding than making a positive difference in children’s lives,
because they are the future and bear the indelible mark of our past and present
efforts.
Sincerely,
Joshua Zhong
